SYNDICATED: a gala presented by Motionball, took place on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 and raised over $25,000 for the Special Olympics. This fabulous evening took guests back to a 1930's Speakeasy where they were able to enjoy appropriately themed entertainment as well as a live auction with 100% of the proceeds going toward the Special Olympics. What a great event!

North Shore Mayors' Golf Tournament (2013 - present)

The Tournament is managed by the North Shore Community Foundation, the West Vancouver Foundation and a group of dedicated volunteers. The strong support of our sponsors within the community has made the event a great success. Our accomplishments are made possible through the collaboration of our Mayors, the business community and the two North Shore Community Foundations. In ten years, this tournament has raised over $1,300,000 supporting high priority social services projects on the North Shore.

Events - Coordination and Communications

Shop the Neighbourhood is an initiative led by the Yellow Pages to encourage consumers to shop local - in your own neighbourhood. Strategically placed between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Shop the Neighbourhood Day in 2014 saw over 750,000 Canadians go out to shop in their neighbourhood and contribute close to $89 million to Canada's local economies.

Hosted by the West Vancouver Community Foundation, the Mayor's Lawn Bowling has become the premiere event to kick off summer in West Vancouver. Teams are encouraged to dress in "technicolour" for an afternoon of fun with bowls, burgers, beer and socializing. This event raises funds for the West Vancouver Community Foundation with a portion of the funds donated to a selected charity each year.

In March of 2011, W. Brett Wilson asked me to assist with the PR and Communications for a gala corporate dinner to honour the selfless service of our Canadian troops and raise funds for military members and their families. All funds raised were directed through the True Patriot Love Foundation.  The evening raised close to $1.5 million for military families and veterans in need – with 100 per cent of donations going to the cause.

While the cause was very serious, the event itself was fun and entertaining. The Vancouver Convention Center was converted into a Forward Operation Base and guests experienced a "Night in a Kandahar Mess Tent". A patrolling helicopter hovered outside the ballroom as guests mingled with cocktails until it was time to take their military-style dinner trays to the mess line. In addition to black-tie and cocktail dress, guests were invited to dress in the colours and style of the military – including camouflage gear. Described by observers as “one of the most spectacular gala evenings ever to hit Vancouver”, the event included various emotional tributes to the fallen in Afghanistan by a host of artists and entertainers and a spirited auction featuring KISS front man Gene Simmons.

The North Shore Community Foundation hosted  their first annual Oktoberfest celebration at The Pipe Shop in the Shipyards. The 300+ guests of this sold out event enjoyed authentic German bratwurst, entertainment by the Edelweiss Dancers, music, dancing and a live auction. This event raised much needed funds and awareness for the NSCF as well as for Sage Transition House.
